Taxes

I believe Arizona families are taxed too much. We need to concentrate on Arizona citizens keeping more of the money they earn. They will, in turn, put it back into the local economy. When a combined tax bill eats up nearly 40 percent of an individuals pay, something needs to be changed. As your next State Senator, I will fight to reduce the burden that taxes place on Arizona's families. I will also work to permanently repeal the business personal property tax.

Spending

As a small business owner who understands the details of meeting a budget and keeping spending under control, I do not see why government should not be doing the same. Unfortunately, government spending continues to grow by leaps and bounds every single year without regard for the revenue streams that support them. I am a fiscal conservative who will work to root out wasteful spending and reduce the size of government. We are in a multi-billion dollar deficit which stands to threaten the future of our state. Band-aids like fund sweeps, rollovers, and borrowing are gimmicks that do not solve the problems we face. I will stand firm on changing the budgeting process while making government spending transparent.

Illegal Immigration

I believe it is irresponsible to talk about guest work programs or amnesty when our government refuses to take the necessary measures to secure our border. More so than any other state, Arizona residents have paid for the inability of the federal government to secure the border. As your next State Senator, I will be unwavering in my commitment to finding real solutions at the state level that will help put an end to illegal immigration in our state.

1st Amendment

I passionately believe in free speech. As an original plaintiff in the lawsuit against the matching funds provision of the Clean Elections Act, I am proud to have participated in this precedent setting case. As a result of the successful litigation, free speech has been protected in the state of Arizona.

The 2nd Amendment

I am committed to protecting and defending your right to keep and bear arms. The right for a citizen militia is embedded in the nation's founding document. In the Legislature, I will stand firm in defense of the 2nd amendment and vote against any attempts to restrict your constitutional rights.

Protecting Traditional Family Values and the Sanctity of Life

As a father of three children and a cancer survivor, I have seen firsthand just how precious life is. In the State Legislature, I will commit to advocate for the fundamental sanctity of life, born and unborn.

Education

My wife taught in elementary education for 7 years, several of which were at a homeless school for children, and I have two advanced degrees from Arizona Universities. I believe in education and in educational choice. Whether it is public, private, parochial, charter schools, or home schooling, I believe a parent knows better than government bureaucrats do, what education is best for their child. I am a product of public and private schools in Louisiana. I attended an all-boy catholic school from 7th-12th grades. I support school choice because we should be doing everything possible to ensure that each and every one of Arizona's children receive the best education possible.

Tort Reform

I believe our judicial system needs to be reformed. Frivolous lawsuits and exorbitant punitive dames have created a business climate that is anti-productive to luring new companies to the state and aided in increasing insurance costs. Tort reform will help in creating a better business climate and lowering insurance costs over the long term.
